Sorry I've been quiet as of recent. I am still unemployed, but I moved two states away and have been busy with moving and packing and such. Now I am settled and back to doing things to keep me from thinking about being unemployed. Anyway, I'm starting a blog about HFI. I'm going to include recipes and safe restaurants. I'll put a guide to getting a SAFE HFI diagnosis. I wanted to do a recipe book, but I think this is less ambitious and only relies on me taking photos of what I eat and keeping tabs on the HFI world (which I do already). I'm calling it "Fruit Is Bad". Of course I came up with the awesomely witty name after I decided on the URL: fructose-free.tumblr.com/Please let me know if you think of something that I should cover. I like our heated discussions we have here. I think it might be nice to cover both sides (like a reporter would) in my blog.

Hey, thats a great blog.
Sorry to hear you're unemployed again and had to move, 2 major stresses in one enough to make you reach for the alcohol if it didn't make you ill!!!! Can you make money from that type of site, I signed up for a website deal last week that has adverts on it that earn you money if people click on it. Haven't heard any more about it but paid for domain name, was going to do it generally about food intolerances in general and maybe get companies that sell specialist foods to advertise on it. Early days, just trying like you to earn some money as my job takes me out and about every day and that is not so good if Meg is ill. I'll let you know more details as I get them.
Maybe you could source and promote companies in your area that supply HFI safe stuff.

Thanks Charlie.
I don't think I can make money from the blog. I'm just doing it to keep up with my writing, improve my photography and design skills, and hopefully get some help for HFIers that are out in the wild.
That's a good idea about promoting local companies that have HFI-safe stuff.

I LOVE IT! I absolutely love it! It's just what we needed.
I think since everyone is so different with their HFI that covering both sides is a grand and novel idea for a blog.
So sorry to hear that this good news is coming from your own bad news though.

I'm working on trying to enable comments to the blog, so if I say something glaringly wrong, you guys could correct me. Hopefully I can keep up the motivation to continue blogging about it. Right now it's easy-peasy.

Got my first question today. It was kind of complicated, so I'm researching to make sure what I say is correct. :\

Hi Laura, I can help with that question, can you put a link to the malabsorption website on your blog?
That is very much an australian idea, apparently with FM if the glucose/fructose ratio in food is equal the glucose pulls the fructose through the bowel wall and is then absorbed OK. I'm not convinced, I think it depends how sensative they are maybe and also what kind of malabsorption problem they have. From what I can work out there are 3 types, the hereditory one where Glut5 transporter is missing, one from poor diet and one post gastro bug. Oh and one more where it seems to be fashionable to be oversensative to every type of food! If only they knew!!!! Hope that helps,

Hi Charlie! Thanks for the intel. I was feeling a little lost on the subject but I thoroughly knew the appropriate response from a HFI standpoint. Do you have a link to the malabsorption websites? Edit: I think I found it! Malabsorption forum: www.fructosemalabsorb.proboards.com/

Thanks Tikitavi. I'm trying to include every minute detail of my boring life. I started to get sick today, so I thought: a blog about cold medicine! I probably should do one about the holidays... I feel like I'm eventually going to repeat myself.

I wrote it specifically with your mushroom soup post in mind! Plus, I really hate reading labels and I can't imagine how frustrating it must be just starting out.

Esmee, probably you just needed to refresh the page - your browser was probably just pulling up the cache from last time you were on the blog?
