Sneaking food

Its happened. I've dreaded this happening but I suppose it had to one day.

Megs has been great so far knowing what to eat and what not to but yesterday I left her a bit too long unsupervised while I was busy. But the funniest side of it was the story she told. Someone had given me some toblerone chocolate at christmas and it was sitting on the sideboard as I'm not a huge fan of chocolate.
When I came into the kitchen Megs looked very shifty and had brown all round her mouth and chin. "Whats that on your face" I asked and out came the most improbable story ever. Apparently her dog ( a jack russel cross yorkie) jumped across from the table to the sideboard - thats about 4 feet away. She ignored the bread, the butter and a few other things and got the toblerone. If you don't know they are in long triangular cardboard tubes. She had opened it and eaten most of the chocolate and then licked Megans face which is how it got all round her mouth!!!!!!! Now this clever little dog had carefully peeled the please tear strip, pulled the foil wrapped chocolate out and broken off half of it. The rest of the box was untouched. Now isn't that the cleverest dog ever? But I thought the best bit was that Millie had wiped it all over Megans face!!!!!! She did finally admit today she had sneaked it.

I didn't tackle Meg straight away about it as I wanted to see how she reacted without her knowing what I was looking for, unfortunately as usual she also has a cold so I will have to guess. At least she hasn't been sick yet.

I've tried to explain to her why she shouldn't try it but I'm not sure it has sunk in yet.

And that's probably something that will happen over here in the future, I can't wait what the story of Nienke will be. And the sleepless nights...

How is the sleeping going?? Is your plan working?

I just wanted to ask you how bad the reaction of Megan was.
But thanks for your interest, the nights are a lot better. Nienke goes to bed around 8 and sleeps most of the nights until 5.30. Has a drink and sleeps then untill 8.

Hey, well done with the sleeping, what a relief for you, well done Nienke. You must be feeling like a new woman!!!!

As for Megan, well not too bad so far but I have found that it can take 4 days for reaction to kick in. She wasn't sick though which surprised me with the amount of sugar in those things but she has become very stressy and shouty and crying tantrums at the slightest things. but then she has been like that in the mornings for some time which makes me wonder if she has been sneaking other things when her friends have been round. She crosses her heart she hasn't but I do wonder, it would certainly solve a puzzle or two!!!! Poohs (sorry to bring it down to basics) were starting to get revolting yesterday so could be in for a rough couple of weeks.

Talking of Megan, better put my body armour on and ear defenders on and get her home from next door where she has been to play and ready for bed!!!!! you'll probably hear her in America if recent tantrums anything to go by!!!!

Well, I thought I would update chocolate-gate. Luckily Megs wasn't too bad with it. She was very up and down with temperament and appetite over the next few days, runny poos but apart from that we seem to have got away with it I think, except her sleeping clock has gone even stranger. she is settling about 9.30 which is good for her - but she has started waking up early, 6 am, then 5 am and last night - well there's another story bless her!!!

Last night I was blissfully asleep having finally got her to sleep at 10.30 when I heard patter, patter of feet on the stairs and the door burst open "Happy valentines day mummy " she said "I've made you breakfast in bed". she had struggled up2 flights of stairs with a cup of coffee and 2 slices of toast. "Oh lovely darling " I said wondering why it was so dark. I turned on the clock and saw the time - 3.15 am. "Its a bit early sweetheart"
"Well enjoy your breakfast" and traipsed downstairs to watch telly. i don't think she went back to sleep judging by the fact that she was asleep by 6.30 this evening. and I won't be long behind her.

It's cute that she wanted to surprise your valentine with a breakfast. Only that time you must be tired. Hope you sleep and you both quickly catching some nice nights.

Is not it amazing how the human body reacts. I was following your story I had an extreme reaction expected from Megans body. She reacts to different foods just so intense. It will always remain a mystery.
