Ok...so got some of my results back today from Mayo.
1. I was negative for the Lactose Intolerance test. While I was taking it I had all the symptoms...bloating, gas, cramping, running to the bathroom 2 1/2 hours later.
2. I was also negative for the Fructose Intolerance test. Even though I almost threw up, got pain so bad I was in a sitting fetal position for about an hour, the only reason I moved from that position was because I was dizzy and the room was starting to spin on me, I couldn't keep my eyes open, and I had to be helped to recovery so I could sleep for 45 min after the test was done. Oh...not to mention I was in the emergency room the following evening because I could eat without wanting to throw up, couldn't get anything into my system, and I had burning pain on the right side of my body under my rib cage.
When I eat a fructose free/glucose free diet, I feel great. When I stray from that for any reason, I don't feel good.
My question is...what the heck is my problem???

What type of Fructose Intolerance test did you take?? That sounds so scary.

It was Fructose Intolerance Breath Test.
It totally sucked...highly NOT recommended!

I second that Fred.
The doctors doing my test got the dosage wrong for me and gave me 10x the amount they should have done.. took me months to recover properly.

Took me days to recover as well. I don't want to take another glass full of fructose. I hope a genetics test will suffice. I get to talk to the doctor who ordered the tests on Monday and see what he wants. I'm hoping he will listen to me and test me for HFI.
What would cause the Lactose Intolerance reaction and not come back positive for it with the breath test?

IF you are HFI then breath test = usless Forget it and get yourself Fructose free see if you improve, if your better then think about "proving HFI" later. Its not like you will need any medication to be on HFI diet is it?
