There is actually 3 types....the other one is called Frucasia. (Will check on the spelling). That's when fructose is harmlessly removed from the body through the urine. The greatest risk is being diagnosed diabetic.
That is also a genetic disease that affects about 100,000 people world wide I believe. But since it doesn't have fructose building up in the body, it's considered harmless. Also, I believe it is asymptomatic.

I believe it is called fructosuria. It is a harmless condition. My friend's nephew had this. They treated it as HFI until he finally decided that he wanted to have the biopsy done - no HFI!
Also, FDPase deficiency and some of the glycogen storage diseases respond to low fructose diets.

I've read this as well. Really interesting once you start looking at HFI.

BTW- did your friend's nephew have any symptoms?
