This week I found a new cereal at our market and Luke tried it this morning and went crazy for it. I know some of you don't do corn products, but Luke can-it is really yummy, zero grams of sugar, tastes like popcorn sort of, or like Corn pops without any sugar. www.arrowheadmills.com/product/puffed-corn-cerealFinally something since the Cascadian Farm O's changed their ingredients!

It should be OK the Dietary Fibre is a little high but if he loves it let him eat it Puffed Wheat and Puffed rice are good too. I almost lived on the stuff when I was young. Still have it for breakfast occasionally now. The Puffed Corn will contain a little sugar regardless of the "analysis" says. Maize has about a 4% sugar content (it is called "Sweet Corn" for a reason,) but this is in the Germ part of the corn (unless its started to germinate). The High temperature arrived at during cooking seems to caramelize the sugar making it safe (er) for HFI to eat. However I am not sure if the caramelized sugar will break down in the small intestine back into Sucrose.. Dietary Fibre causes HFI version of IBS by doing exactly this, hence need to keep "Digestible" Dietary Fibre to a minimum.
