I use pretty much any unflavored oils: vegetable, olive, sesame, peanut, canola.
Vinegars should be on a trial basis and dependent on the brand. I've had some redwine vinegars that are fine and other's that make me sick. Balsamics are awful all around. Apple Cider and White both seem to be fine.

Colormist....that's interesting. I don't do well with most oils. The rice bran oil is the only one that doesn't make me sick. I am going to try the pumpkin seed oil soon though. But I'm crazy super sensitive.

I know a few of us are reactive to Soy oil and Soy products in general as well. Vinegar the only one I'll use is white "spirit" vinegar and "Malt Vinegar" which is made from Maltose (the products of which I seem to be able to tolerate reasonable well like beer! ) There is also Rice vinegar which is good for me also thinking about it. However I uses very little if any in my cooking. If you are supper sensitive I would steer clear of any thing other than Spirit Vinegar, none brewed. Have you tried Ground nut oil? Also there is a grape seed oil as well. Rice Bran Oil is nice and good for Keeping our cholesterol levels down a bit .. given we eat lots of High cholesterol things

Rice Vinegar is not the same was Rice Wine Vinegar. Rice Wine Vinegar is a definite no-no in the States. Also be very careful about the rice vinegar you choose, some are sweetened and used to make sushi. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rice_vinegar

I'm fine thanks, well better than fine actually. I've had a very busy summer and its only with the dark cold and wet nights I can catch up on winter projects Just eating my supper, its a second overloaded plate of Pork chops dumplings and mushrooms in a Stilton Cheese sauce. First plate was for my Dinner.. I could not leave this to tomorrow.. so not sure when I'll get to sleep .. but WTH (What The Hxxl) it had to be done! Stilton is a soft mild Blue cheese that dissolves in the meat juices to make a fantastic tasty sauce! ;D Just done a HFI feasts day type menu for someone wanting to know what to feed and how to cook a turkey for Thanksgiving in a HFI fashion. It's about 4 pages long in MS word I think its a bit big for a posting here? Keep smiling

Sorry forgot to mention Rice Bran Oil is available in the UK in our version of Wallmart (called ASDA in the UK) its also available in Tesco and health food shops. In The USA its available mail order here whatscookingamerica.net/Information/RiceBranOil.htmFrom their web site I found the following comment.. Up to 80% of the oil consumed in the U.S.A. today comes from soybeans. Soybean oil is commonly hydrogenated and used in many processed foods. mmm this is BAD! I cannot handle ANY soybean oil and I know other HFI adults who are the same.. perhaps if other HFI people cannot handle soybean oil this could be contributory factor in unexplained "bad" or "off" days???

Oh by the way vegetable oils sold in shops are frequently a mix of oils even if they claim to be 100% pure!
It is very common to "cheapen" Olive oil (for example) with hazelnut oil and they can add a LOT before having to declare it on the bottle.. because being organic chemistry its impossible to run an analysis that can detect the contamination.
IF you are susceptible to soy oil then you will have to buy only the very best high quality oils and hope they have not been tampered with in the bottling factory.
Otherwise use butter or our grandmothers favourite Lard!
OK my Grandmothers favourite your great grandmothers favourite ;D
