I am going to see a GI doc tomorrow for the first time.
Is there anything I should know before going?

So I went today and he is going to try to find a lab in Canada who will do a gene test for HFI but he says he doesn't think there are any so I may have to pay for the test from a lab in the US.
Does anyone know of a lab in Canada or even the US that can test genes for HFI?
Thanks, Evelyn

Hi, We had our daughter DNA tested at Baylor in Texas. It can back negative but that does not guarantee she does not have HFI. It can detect @ 80% of cases. ww.bcm.edu/geneticlabs/test_detail.cfm?testcode=3125 Dr. Tolan in Boston can test with around the same results. www.bu.edu/aldolase/HFI/hfitest/hfitest.htmlWe are in Kansas right now but will be moving back to Canada (London) soon. We hope to have more luck with getting a definitive diagnosis for both our kids.

I read that there are 5 mutations for HFI in European groups but 7 mutations for HFI in American groups. It's those other 2 mutations that can get missed. Do you know which mutations they were looking for?
