Where in Minnesota are you? I noticed you mentioned Mayo. That's where we doc also. We're in Austin which is about 45 minutes from Rochester. I'm actually a nurse at Mayo, but only work 2 -12 hour days a week. Jarrett my fructose guy will be 7 in March. It would be great to have someone close by to compare any new foods found and stuff. Did I see you have Celiacs also? They thought for many years that's what Jarrett had. They kept scoping him and it was always negative. I can't imagen trying to find stuff gluten free too!!! In Rochester there's a great bakery right by St Mary's that has great gluten free stuff. Not sure about the fructose though. When we went there we thought we were dealing with celiacs only. In the same strip mall there a pizza place that will make you a pizza if you take the crust bought at the bakery to them. Again, not sure on fructose stuff. It might be worth checking out if you're close by. Let me know if you know of anything else close by that has good stuff. At 7, it's kind of hard for him to deal with being different. He's pretty good most of the time, but has a melt down a few times a year. He loves it when I find new treats that he can have.

Hi Gretchen,
I am from Red Wing. I try to get to Rochester at least once a month to get groceries. Have you ever been to the Gluten Free Cupboard? It is near to the giant corn not too far from Apache Mall. I can find some gluten free and fructose free things there like pasta, I just learned of the Glutino breadsticks from KJ, a pizza crust mix, etc. I also found a new snack called Cheechahs that are made of potato starch. They are good. It is a challenge watching all the restrictions. I have been to the bakery, but all their gluten free foods have sugar and/or fruit. I haven't tried the pizza yet next door. We tend to eat at Zorbas Greek restaurant since it is so good. They have a full Gluten free menu and much of it doesn't have sugar/fructose. That is good that your son doesn't have Celiac as well. Is Celiac in your family that they may still have to watch him for it in the future or is the fructose intolerance diet working? What dept. do you work in at Mayo Clinic? I'll be there soon for a follow up visit.
I can see where your son would have a hard time with the diet and have periodic meltdowns. If I can come up with any other snack ideas I'll let you know.

I work in cardiac surgery. Hopefully we won't see you there for any followup's!!LOL. I heard about that place by the corn, but haven't made it out there. I usually get Jarrett's bread at Walmart. Wonder makes a sourdough that FF, but still really soft. I'm sure it has wheat in it so it's out for you. I can't find it anywhere in Austin. We're suppose to be getting a Walmart within the next year so hopefully they'll have it. Next time you're in Rochester let me know and maybe we can do lunch. Like I said, I only work 2 days a week, but love to come over to go shopping!! It's great all 3 of my kids are in school all day so I drop them off at 8 and don't have to pick them up until 2:40!!! I've only been to Zorbas once and that was a long time ago. Who do you see for GI? I have lymphacitic colitis and see Dr Mangen, but I haven't seen him for a few years. Really nice guy!!! We'll I actually have a neurologist appt(migraines) over there in about an hour and then have to go to work so I better go. Hopefully we'll talk to you later. My home e-mail is timothyk3@charter.net if you want to get together!!!

Is someone trying to send me a message? I hope it is a good one- I'm always asking for signs, I guess I need to ask for signs or messages in English. ~Colleayn (This reply is in response to a HUGE spam reply that just came up under this thread. I write this in case this reply comes up and the spam message has been deleted.)
