Hi frida, welcome to the board, you will find this very usefull if you have time to look through some of the posts. If you start on the miscellaneous page "How were you diagnosed" that gives you an idea of what people ;have been through and symptoms they experienced. also the safe ingredients will give you some ideas.
Re foods, welcome to a very confusing world. There do seem to be variations that people can tolerate and also it depends where you are in the world with somethings as ingredients are different. If your daughter is showing signs of liver problems you need to start on a very strict diet to try to settle that down first so stick to as low fructose as possible. meats and fish are fine as long as they are not processed in any way, old potatoes are OK not new. white rice and white bread (check for sugar in it though), white pasta. To start with no fruit and no veg of any kind is safer, when she is settled more you may be able to introduce a few to try. My daughter lives on milk and white sauces with foods to keep her energy up. That is just a starter. I have a list I can email you we were given, if you go on messages and send me your email address then I can email you it, this is the British version, also have you checked out the boston university site as they have alot of info. good luck, don't be afraid to ask questions, we're a nice bunch, my daughter is 7. Where in the world are you?? Charlie

Hi Frida-
My son Luke is five years old, HFI confirmed. He also had fatty liver- it took 18 months for the damage to reverse and liver now measures normal, so it is possible, but it really takes time. Stools still pale at times. Please tell us where you are- I am in S. California. That will help us suggest specific food products.
Also feel free to email me. Good luck.
