I keep making the fabulous mistake of eating KFC. It's not even good, so I'm not sure why I keep torturing myself. Yesterday I kept binge eating and only when I finished off a bag of Baked Cheetos did I realize why I was feeling so ravenous. Today I face the fabulous side effects--which are quite the opposite of yesterday's: eternally stuffed. I don't think I'm digesting anything I put into my stomach, plus the usual brain fog and permanent nausea.
Sometimes I wish I didn't have such a fabulous resilience to nausea.

KFC? Really?! I'd rather get sick from Taco Bell. There is usually a Taco Bell near a KFC. Best of all are the nuggets at McDees, or an In & Out protein style burger....ok, now I'm getting hungry.

I could have SWORN KFC used to taste good. I think they started going down hill as soon as they changed their name from Kentucky Fried Chicken.
Sadly, my Taco Bell is in a gas station. Can't bring myself to eat in a gas station.

KFC always smells so good, but I seriously think I have eaten there only once in my life and it was when I was a kid. I'm with Sarah - if you're gonna get sick, make it Taco Bell! But, ya, gas station is a bit sketchy.
I made myself quite ill on some Burger King chicken nuggets about a month or so ago. When I read the website a few days later it stated that they are "predusted" with sugar. What?!
I do okay with McDs chicken nuggets, but Calvin hit his limit at 6. Not sure which of the three million ingredients in those nasty things bothered him, but we are hesitant to try them again.
Hope you are feeling better!

By the way - I like the "I'd rather get sick from ..." comment. That phrase has come out of my mouth on many an occasion these days!

We just finished travelling in the US recently and we found that KFC, Mc Donalds and Hungry Jacks (Burger King) were very different there than here in AUS. They use different ingredients, usually local. It is very different. my daughter couldn't tolerate any food in those restaurants and got quite sick. Is it normal for the hunger to start when you have some sugar? My daughter gets so hungry when she eats wrong food. If you are travelling, check the ingredients at all restaurants even if they are familar. Good Luck

In alot of food sensativities the body starts craving what it shouldn't have, maybe it swings the homeostatic mechanism too much. That is what homeopathy works on it gives you some of the toxin to get the body to sort itself out. It may also be that her blood sugar drops more when having sugar and then she needs more food to compensate. See Sandra's post of how she felt after her fructose breath test.

I think it's the blood-sugar dropping. Whenever I accidentally eat something I shouldn't, I get hungry within an hour of eating the accident food. Then hungry again 15 minutes later. Usually it's a constant eating until I go to sleep or am too stuffed to move/stop shaking/no longer feel queasy. Definitely causes binge eating for me. Really not good for those trying to manage their weight as you completely lose control over your food consumption.

I agree 100% with that! I too find that I will graze like cattle! I am so thirsty too. I can't seem to quench my thirst! I am still trying to loose some of the weight after the baby in February and that sure doesn't help!

Thanks for the postings. It is reassuring that others are having the same issues. I am sick of the comment "What is there to eat mummy?"

KFC - even the thought of giving any to Megs makes me shudder. We did try McDonalds recently - the fries and 2 plain beefburgers but even those made her tummy hurt and there was no indication of wrong ingredients but may be what is cooked around them.
Re the gene test, why do they say you need testing, do they think you have HFI or just for further advice if having any more kids. Thats alot of money just to confirm something you already know, you both must be carriers. I would save the money and spend it on James!!!!

Regina eats KFC quite often also. She's never had any problems with it either.
Another good old stand-by sign to watch for when we're traveling.

I eat KFC with no problem, except that they seem to be adding a lot of pepper to their chicken now to make up for the lack of flavor. But I always make sure not to get any catsup/mustard/mayonnaise/barbecue sauce or any other sauce on what I order, and I don't buy anything that comes on a bun, because all the fast-food buns are high in sugar.

I get hungry when I eat the wrong foods as well. I always thought it was from the body not being able to get any nutrients from what you are eating, so it is starving on a cellular level.
What does everyone else think?

I am so glad I know now to treat KFC with caution when I come over to the USA. If I'm travelling in and around the UK I always know I'm safe with KFC and have nearly lived on them for weeks.. Not had a problem in France , Germany, Holland, Belgium, Spain or the Czech Republic. So it must be a USA KFC problem thank goodness! There is NOTHING eddible in MacD's in the UK just the very smell of the place makes me feel sick. OK their coffee at a push. I do have to avoid "Marks and Spencer's" food it is all (including their crisps, in the USA Chips) everything bar the Milk has added sugar or sweeteners even if it dose not say so on the label!

Bill, from my web research McD's fries are supposed to be safe and their burgers are 100% meat so in desperation occasionally I have resorted to fries and 2 meat burgers for Meg with minimal reaction. The trouble is the burgers are pathetically small and get served in individual polystyrene pots!!! tried burger king recently, their fries have maltodextrin in them but otherwise ok and taste much nicer and there angus burgers are massive and delicious so seem a much better bet. Can't guage after effects yet as she had glucose challenge test 2 days later, the results of which I have posted before!!!
Interesting KFC are OK, just the thought makes me shudder, what bit is safe? I've tried googling their ingredients but no luck. I seem to remember Fred said their recipes are supposed to be the same worldwide

I did some research on KFC's site about their chicken. It does look as if different areas use different recipes. I must be living in the "add sugar to everything" area. I did notice, however, that their Original Recipe chicken seems to be fine all-around. I'm uncertain on the mashed potatoes & gravy. I really like it, but I'm not sure it's safe. At McD's, I love their french fries and chicken mcnuggets.

I used to work in the farming / food industry and have talked to vets, butchers and people who take Offal unfit for human consumption away from the Mcd's factory / slaughter house..
Let us say their advertising that a McD is 100% beef is very nearly entirely accurate!
I will not go into the processing they do to turn fat and other stuff into something that tastes and has the mouth feel of meat.. but a cow walks in a burger comes out with VERY little waste!
20 years ago the cost to the franchise holder of a McD restaurant (in the UK) was about 30p that included the burger, Bun, chips, salad, drink, mayo, box, napkin etc.. and sold for £1.99..
Need I say more?
