Has anyone found probiotics useful in preventing abdominal pain?
My 8 year old daughter has a provisional diagnosis of Fructose 1,6 Diphosphatase Deficiency, we are very careful about fructose, but she's had a very difficult past two weeks, lots of stomach pain, too many variables for us to know what's going on - in addition to her metabolic issues, she simultaneously is experiencing growth spurt, seasonal allergies, some kind of 2 day virus with temp ~101. She also has tree nut and kiwi fruit allergies. She has a history of antibiotics (none since the early fall).
After scrubbing her diet as best we could of all questionable food, still stomach pain. So we started her on acidopholus and KidZyme supplements and within a day she was MUCH better. However, could be she would have been better anyway.
We are curious to know if anyone else has tried probiotics.
Thanks. Sue Hamilton

For the first few months after starting the diet, my son ate yogurt like it was going out of style and seemed to benefit from it. Periodically, he will eat things he is not supposed to and when that happens he generally wants to eat more yogurt. I would not be surprised that the enzymes and acidophilus are helping your daughter.

We tried them prior to figuring out Zanders problems with fructose. They did help a little but, it also may have all been in my head. I was desperate to find something to eliminate his diarrhea.
Has anyone tried Robert's American Gourmet Veggie Booty? I picked it up for my non-food issued kid and it looks like it may be OK for some. They are like Cheeto's without all the good flavor. Ingred are: Corn Meal, Rice, Organic Soy Flour, Rice and/or Sun flour oil, Spinach, Kale, Cabbage, Carrot, Broccoli, Calcium Carbonate, Vit A, Vit C, Parsley and sea salt.
Not sure about the Kale, cabbage and carrot but, we may give it a try. Any thoughts or am I pushing things. They kind of taste a little like popcorn and my son loves the stuff but, can't tolerate it.
I know he would love this as a substitute to popcorn when we see a movie.

Nate likes the Pirate's Booty which basically tastes like a mild cheese popcorn. He hasn't had it in a little while though.
In addition to issues with the veggies in the ingredients of the Veggie Booty, I would worry about the soy flour. I have found chicken nuggets that use it as well as soy protein isolate cause issues for Nate.
(For your non-food issued kid, Fruity Booty is also very tasty.)

I love Pirates Booty! Girlfriend's booty is hit or miss, but Cannon balls, Tings, and Smart Puffs are all very good.
