Does anyone have a good granola recipe that they tried and were happy with? I tried making some last night by substituting barley sweetener in lieu of honey, but it was definitely not as tasty as Whole Foods granola

I didn't even know there was a granola at Whole Foods that was HFI safe!
Personally, I've never made it myself.

No unfortunately it is not HFI safe , but it tastes delicious, which is why I am trying to copy, but with an HFI sake honey replacement.

We make a pseudo granola by toasting puffed millet, pb, cinnamon, & barley malt syrup. Not as tasty, but pretty good.
Another option might be to mix the millet, oats, pb, and cinnamon with either glucose or melted marshmallow - sort of like a rice crispy treat.
I've also been thinking of making a modified scone recipe and adding the above ingredients which might make a tasty granola bar.

I just made the yummiest granola bars!!! I'm thinking these will be great for school snack. (Nate starts Kindergarten on Monday.)
Here's the recipe:
Preheat oven to 375F. Mix 3.5 cups rolled oats, 1/4 cup oil, and 1/4 tsp salt. Place coated oats on cookie sheet lined with foil. Toast in oven for 25 minutes mixing periodically. Remove from oven and reduce heat to 300F.
In a small saucepan, mix 1/2 cup glucose syrup (or use 1/4 cup glucose and 1/4 cup brown rice syrup or barley malt syrup, if tolerated) and 1/2 cup dextrose. Stir over medium heat until dextrose is dissolved (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and mix in 1/4 cup peanut butter, 1/2 tbsp cinnamon, and 1/2 tbsp vanilla with the syrup.
In a large bowl, combine oats, 3/4 cup chopped walnuts, and 1 cup Purely O's (optional) with the sauce.
Coat the foil covered cookie sheet with cooking spray and press mixture firmly on cookie sheet using the back side of a wet spatula. The mixture should fill half of a large baking sheet. (If you want granola pieces rather than bars, just crumble the mixture onto the cookie sheet instead of pressing together.) Bake for 35 - 40 minutes at 300F. Remove from oven and cool for 15 minutes before cutting into bars. As the bars cool, they become harder/crunchy. Recipe makes 18 bars.
