Does anyone out there w/HFI eat nuts, peanut butter, etc ? My son's nutritionist said they were all off limits b/c nuts inherently have fructose. Thanks.

I have been eating all natural peanut butter all my life and I have never had a problem. I do eat other nuts (cashews pecans etc) and I have never noticed a reaction. I was surprised when I read that other people are putting nuts on the "to avoid" list. I can't imagine my school lunches growing up without peanut butter!

Regina never ate any nuts because they were on the "no" list way back when. But now, thanks to all the helpful people on here, we got brave and tried peanuts. She eats them all the time now. Wish I had known this when she was in school.

I'm not a fan of peanut butter - I think I had too much of the sweet kind as a kid, and it turned me off for good.
I do eat handfuls of raw almonds every now and then. The roasted kind make me sick, but I love the raw ones. I also eat walnuts now and again, but that's all for nuts.

Cashews and Macadamia nuts are too sweet for me, but I graze on most of the other kinds of nuts. Anything over a serving size and I either get sick from too much salt or too much fructose. I can't tell which.

My mum, quite rightly, but very smugly pointed out to me that peanuts are not in fact in the nut family at all but are actually legumes so that may alter the affect of them. On the nutrition data it says that a cup of dry roasted unsalted peanuts have 6 g of sugar in them but haven't broken that down yet into which types of sugars. The jury, ie me, is still out on Megan and peanut butter as so much else still going on.

Hi
I jumped down and opened the carbs breakdown for 6mg and found this chart for peanuts after googling nutritional data. it's interesting but i don't know if it breaks the 40mg/kg daily rate rule.
