Our peds GI doc office spoke with the insurance company and it looks like they are going to cover the genetic test!!! The order has been faxed to the lab and now we just have to go do the draw. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the insurance company really does cover it after all is said and done.
I am still going to continue on with my new GI doc in case a biopsy is still necessary (and in case this is not HFI).
Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well done Sandra, sounds like you are on the home straight then, but yes check and double check it is covered, also if it turns out negative are you liable to pay, I seem to remember reading on something, although I could have been hallucinating it, that the test is covered unless it is negative. Could be totally wrong but knowing what insurance companies are like about wriggling out of other things it is worth quadruple checking.

That is a really good result. Great news!
With the insurance, ours said we had to pay if the test was negative. But we had it done as we didn't want to put a baby through the loading test, which was the alternative we were given.
So, after waiting 3 months, the DNA test came back negative, and we got the bill for 900Euros the other day. (Hopefully your test results will be quicker).
I have put the bill to one side until we have the results of the loading test and know whether the DNA test gave a real negative or a false one...
Otherwise here, Hugo is still in pretty poor health, but nothing fructose related. He has just had a series of ear infections, and today came out in chicken pox spots! (his sister had it 2 weeks ago)....

YOWZERS! 900Euros?? What the hell? I don't understand how the price of that test can vary from country to country. I was told it was only $100 in the US. Sorry to hear about the negative test result and outlandish price of the bill. That's awful. On the other hand, congrats to Sandra for the win!
