One place Nate likes to go is Souplantation. It is a soup/salad/bakery buffet restaurant. If you have one in your area, you may want to check it out. www.souplantation.com/locations/fm/ He usually eats mac & cheese, plain rotini, eggs, cheese, sourdough bread, biscuits, broccoli, and sunflower seeds when we go. They also have fresh spinach and baked potatoes w/all the fixings. Sometimes I'll pull chunks of chicken for him from their chicken soup, which is delicious. I have not checked, since he prefers the sourdough, but they have a cheese focaccia bread (essentially cheese pizza w/no sauce) that may be OK. I like this place because it has plenty of options for him. He gets excited that he can choose his own food. I think the only disappointment for him here is that their sugar free desserts (Dreyer's chocolate ice cream and vanilla mousse/pudding) are made with Splenda. When he has really craved dessert in the past, I have mixed artificial sweetener with cottage cheese as a substitute, but he is usually ok without it. Another similar experience has been at Hometown Buffet. He eats their chicken and mac n' cheese or eggs and oatmeal when it's breakfast. The bonus there has been that the sugar free vanilla soft serve is OK for him.

Souplantation here recently added breakfast on Sundays and we have gone a couple of times. They have HFI safe biscuits/gravy, waffles, and french toast and even carry the Joseph's SF syrup for those who tolerate maltitol. They also have the standard eggs and sourdough bread which are OK.
I did check and the cheese foccacia bread has sugar in the dough. Bummer. But there are so many other choices it does not seem to matter.
Oh, and if you join their ClubVeg online, you can usually get some pretty good discounts as well.
