Sorry I have been out of action for so long. We moved in Feb and my mother in law has had many ups and downs in her fight with a brain tumor. Not to mention the everyday stuff with 3 kids. But, I have some questions about energy. Zander (only diagnosed by a breath test) was tested at his school to see if he qualified for any special help. He follows an HFI diet (very strictly). If we try any of the maybe stuff he has issues.
His teacher (and us) have issues with his energy. He seems checked out much of the time but, worse if he gets something he shouldn't. He does not qualify for any help. He does great one on one but, in the classroom he needs constant reminders from the teacher to stay on task. He also loses energy playing sports, ect... A good example is his music performance last week. It was 8 songs. He was very into the first half (arm movements and everything). But, the last 3 he just stood and glazed over. He was the only one out of about 50 kids who checked out.
Anyone else have issues like this? Anyone have Hypoglycemia along with HFI? With the school year ending things are crazy but, I would like to start monitoring his food intake and see if i can figure anything further out. I have an appt to see a new ped doc to discuss his issues at school. She deals with learning issues. He tested average but, all the testing was one on one. The classroom observations pointed out that he was not keeping up with the class. We think the only reason he is on track is because we work with him almost every night and have had a tutor for him for almost 2 years. We are not sure how much he takes in at school.
His teacher is great and does see that he must stay on his diet or his performance and mood is affected. She keeps treats/snacks for him. We have not had any issues with the diet at school. He is also great about staying on the diet. If a friend on the bus gives him candy he brings it home and he digs in his treat box for something else.
Any suggestions on why he has a hard time concentrating and staying on task and getting him more energy?
I think I have rambled enough.
Nancy
