Hi. Tatyana here. I absulutally love pixie sticks, sweet-tarts and smarties. They are the only candies i have ever liked. ???I am wondering if they are safe to eat. It sounds like they probably are but I am still not sure. I have been eating the same things since I was diagnosed. It has only been seven days but things get boring fast. Potatoes, mac and cheese, noodles, and rice. :(It would be cool if i could at least be able to eat my favorite candies (pixies, sweet-tarts &smarties) So................... Does anyone know if Pixie Sticks, Sweet-tarts, and Smarties are safe for HFIs to eat? ? I am still in quite a bit of pain. :-[Hope this will be ending SOON. But I am hoping my fav candies will be safe to eat. Hugs, Tatyana

I don't know for sure but I ate most of a one pound bag of sweet tarts yesterday and today and feel OK.
The Logic is it says it is glucose mainly and the rest of the minor things seem OK.
I wonder if the manufacturer says if is OK for HFI/DFI?

We have some issues with Sweettarts around here and most don't like the blue pixy stix, but the rest of the colors are fine. Smarties are also fine. Needless to say, Nestle keeps changing the flavors of their candies, so maybe someday pixy stix will have fructose in them.

What is the list of ingredients in the smarties (USA)? I checked the rockets here in Canada and they list the following: Dextrose, may contain corn syrup solids, or maltodextrin, citric acid, calcium stearate, artificial flavours and colours
I remember eating them as a kid but have stayed away from all sweets for years now. I am not sure I trust the "may contain corn syrup solids" and I always wonder what is really in "artificial flavours"

I recently had some of the really big smarties. I kept feeling ill after eating them, so I checked the label - corn syrup solids. I have read here and there that corn syrup solids can be safe, but my littlest guy got really sick from them when they were in a formula. I stopped eating them and have been fine, so it was definitely the smarties. They did taste different from the little ones.

I was reading my label on my Smarties wrapper to see if they listed ingredients and happened across this amusing little line: "Made in Canada"
