I am a runner so I pay attention to all these road races dedicated to rare diseases. They could just change the name and not even direct any money to the Boston HFI center and it would explode into public awareness.
I can see it, elite marathoners touting DFI power bars. DFI drinks being handed out at mile markers.
We can be cynical and say the food processing industry doesn't want people to know about how wide spread DFI is.
But if you can't beat em, join em.
HFI sounds better than DFI Marathon to me. HFI sounds more like a GTO race car.
Eventually there will be a DFI section in your local supermarket just like there is a gluten free section now.
It is a strange coincidence that the worlds most prestegious marathon and also the HFI center are in the same place, Boston.
In other words, somebody can make a heck of a lot of money off fructose free stuff. It just takes somebody to step out.
Then maybe they can give the genetic test for it free to me an other people who have the signs of it.
