This is one of the most maddening things about a gluten free or fructose free diet is trying to go out to eat.
One time the chef started screaming at me through the phone when I asked for help before going to and Italian place.

That's why this section is so short, the pleasure of eating out is often spoilt by the having to microscopically examine the menu. We ate out recently and had a long conversation with the chef about my 6 year old as nothing on their menu was suitable. We came up with grilled fish and potatoes, forgot to specify and out came new potatoes and fish with lemon on it - which isn't really a 6 year olds idea of fish, oh and peas because it looked wrong without them!!! having told him no veg or fruit!! Needless to say she reacted slightly, I had scraped off the peas. If we go out now I take something she can eat that is ok cold and just tell them tough that is all she can eat, or go to one pub we know will sensibly accomodate.
