So, anything other beside HFI? Please, only persons with HFI vote. You can vote for your children. In allergies, vote only if you have confirmed IgE allergy.

The only thing I have on that poll is a sibling with HFI. No other allergies or problems that I'm aware of.

Me too. Nothing but FHI I have had 4 children none with HFI, however my Daughter has a problem with slow conversion of Body fat back into Blood sugar as I do but this might be something else. Dose anybody else get the shakes and low blood sugar if they exercise hard on an empty stomach? My problems with Soy have not been officially diagnosed so not valid for the poll. I suspect that I eat far too much red meat to have anemia problems. Keep smiling

Exercise... what is that?
Actually that's pretty much the reason why I hate exercising. You can't exercise after you eat and you can't exercise on an empty stomach. You're also not supposed to exercise late at night. Ergo, by the time I get home, make dinner, digest for an hour or two, it's time to go to bed. I never understood why people loved exercise so much. It also makes me horribly sleepy.
Now I just do low impact stuff (stepping) after I eat dinner while I'm watching TV.

:)I was diagnosed by the head if the G-I Dept. at Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston roughly 16 years ago at age 16. Until I was diagnosed I was always a small kid. My bone grow was actually shown to be 2 years behind. After eliminating fructose/sorbitol from my diet as directed, I shot up from 5'5'' to 6' within two years. It could just be normal (late bloomer) or related to my diet at the time??? Currently I avoid fructose and sorbitol but I'm sure there are other sugars that give me trouble time to time. When diagnosed I was just told that this was a rare disease and that the only treatment was strict avoidance of fructose/sorbitol. So thats what I've done and things have been much better. I still make mistakes now and then or have too much of something I know I shouldnt, but it's better than being sick almost daily!! I find that I can stomach small amount of foods I know contain fructose, like ketchup. I need a little on a burger! : ) I am also allergic to penicillin and was lactose intolerant as a child. Well, I still am now but I can have small amounts of milk and ice cream. I've never had a glass of straight milk in my life....gross : ) I worry sometimes about my health because I've read various articles and talk to random people online who have HFI. One in particular seemed really paranoid and said he got yearly liver tests and seemed to eat next to nothing. I've never been too concerned, I've sort of figured out my own limits and try to stick to them. I just hope I'm not hurting my body in the long run by trying to have small amounts if it isnt bothering me. This site has lots of great info and I'm looking forward to reading more. Hopefully I will get to meet many of you and share info. Please feel free to contact me if anyone has any questions about my HFI. justinmetzner@hotmail.com

Hi Justin! Welcome to the board. You are a brave-brave-brave HFIer for putting ketchup on your burgers. My guess it that you choose some of the lower-fructose brands like Hunts? Also, we can message you through the board (your inbox link is at the very top of this page). I'm going to advise you to remove your email address (as you'll probably get lots of spam from bots if you leave your address posted on a website). Seriously, I cringing because I see it. As a web designer, it pains me.

Though I don't think he would go near ketchup. He still eats cheeseburgers from McDonalds, bread and all. I guess I lean on the "paranoid" side, but small amounts of fructose really tears up my stomach (IBS symptoms). There are a couple of things I do eat, knowing they contain small amounts of fructose. However, I know my tolerance levels fairly well. I believe I fall just shy of the 40mg rule Fred mentions. Glad you found the board!!

Been a while since I've followed up. Thanks for the welcomes everyone. I still wonder if I'm too "brave" : ) It's not often I get really sick, but slight intestinal pain every few weeks from a bit too much isn't out of the ordinary. I won't go overboard and have something I know will absolutely hurt me, but like I said, the kecthup and some breads...guilty!

I have milk allergy, lactose intolerance, wheat allergy and celiac disease besides HFI. It stinks! (to say the least!)

I do stay away from soy due to the sugar content but am not officially intolerant to it.
