OK firstly avoid anything with BBQ sauce, Sweet and sour, or just sour, anything containing Lemon will usually have added sugars. Which is a pity because Lemon Chicken made without added sugar is really very nice!
If the restaurant is any good they can cook the meal without any added sugar if you ask nicely.
I can eat most things as they only cook the vegetables lightly so I can avoid them and the sweetness has not permeated and spoil the rest of the food.
Bamboo shoots and water chestnuts are fine and very tasty, be careful of Bean sprouts, I can only tolerate a small quantity of them. I can eat a little Pac Choi but avoid the thick stems where most of the sweetness is I just eat the green parts
Most dipping sauce's are sweet as is thick Soy Sauce and Oyster Sauce.
Most Prawn Crackers have sugar in the mix as they are made , however I usually can eat a few without a problem I think the Sugar is caramelised in the cooking in Hot fat which helps perhaps?

I've given up on Soy Sauce in Chinese and Japanese restaurants. It's not even worth testing them. I use La Choy at home, which is salty--not sweet, but I swear all the local restaurants use some sugar concentrate. Mmmmm bamboo shoots and water chestnuts.
