I hope everyone had plenty of safe foods for the big stuff-your-face-until-you-can't-think-meal. We did our usual thing. Went to the hunting cabin with the whole family and ate the worlds worst dinner.
Yep, do it every year. My aunts do most of the cooking, and they are by far, without question, the world's worst cooks. They always manage to outdo themselves every year. It's memorable though. We (the younger cousins that still have taste buds intact) still talk about the corn bread stuffing from one year. Dry to the point of it would have been easier to swallow saw dust.
This year they outdid themselves with a new sweet potato / apple dish. Sounded like it'd be good, smelled good, and looked a little like an apple betty kind of dish. Suckered us all right into tasting it. Yep. Didn't let us down. Had to keep pushing it around on the plate and trying to hide it under the bread. And being waaaaaaaay too full for anymore. The luckiest person there was Regina, who wasn't forced to try it, since she couldn't have it.
But they do redeem themselves in the baking dept. Really good pies.
The most important part of the day was great though. Most of the family made it there, and we had a lot of fun and laughter. Enough fun that we'll go back next year and have all the fun and laughter and love and the worlds worst food again. Wonder what they'll try next time..........

Mine was uneventful, which is good. I managed to save the noodles last-second. My mom was talking about how she checked for sugar on everything as she was opening up cans of chicken broth to start the noodles. I mentioned kind-of softly as to whether or not she checked the broth (from just looking at the label, I knew she had the kind that had sugar in it). She hadn't and when she saw sugar on the label she let out a disgusted noise and poured it all down the drain. I told her I could go pick up some sugar-free broth and she insisted that she would just use the chicken neck. Home-made noodles are my favorite part of Thanksgiving. I even peeled all the red potatoes because I didn't want to start the discussion about reds having more sugar in the peel than whites. Turkey was great. Potatoes were great. Noodles were great. Of course, it didn't stop there. I continued to stuff myself all week long and today I suffer from indigestion... Gone are the days of stuffing my face until I pass out.

All I could have was the turkey which I made. Other people did make stuff I could eat but piled on all sorts of food I can't eat on top of it like breadcrumbs and sauces.

I bought a 25 lb turkey so it wasn't that bad. I had plenty of that to eat.
