Just an FYI - my granddaughter seems to have a reaction of vomiting and diarhea after eating Smarties candies. We didn't think about it till it happened twice after eating two rolls. She does have problems with acid reflux and has been treated for it since she was a month old. She is 3 1/2 now. Just wanted to pass this along since there may be other children that have this problem.

This is so helpful!! I wish I had seen this earlier. I absulutally LOVE all of those candies. I had looked every where for shockers and couldn't find them. (This was before I was diagnosed) And now I just find them and I probably can't eat them. Bummer!! well that's too bad. Thanks.

Tatyanasmom - Fred eats Shockers and does quite fine with them. They're too tart for me, or I'd eat them.

To be honest, I haven't seen any of these in England. Glad you clarified smarties, in England they are colour coated chocolate buttons just oozing sugar and colouring. Haven't even got past first base with glucose yet, tried small amounts in breakfast and behaviour deteriorating fast and lots of blank episodes and No Fructose at all in diet as far as am aware so will steer well clear of trying any sweets for moment.

So, I tried SHOCKERS yesterday. We bought some at a gas station nearby. Read the label then and it said there was sugar and corn syrup in it. I thought they were supposed to be safe. Once again, Bummer! Oh well. We got some bottle caps too so I guess it's not so bad.

Well, poo on the shockers. I figured they had corn syrup on them (certain kinds of corn syrup are okay--the high fructose corn syrup kind is definitely not okay), but I didn't know they had sugar in them. That sucks. I wonder if Fred's noticed this on the label.

Yeah. I think we'll be staying away from bottle caps now too. Had a reaction to them both times I ate them. Well, there's always pixie stix and smarties.

Drove home on a long road trip yesterday. Stopped to gas up the car, and I did my usual perusal of the candy aisle. Found a large box of runts with NEW FLAVORS!!! I am so excited. They did away with those awful pineapple and mango flavors and now have green apple and grape. The grape is sooooo yummy, and green apple isn't bad either. Banana is still my favorite.
Just thought I'd share. ;D

Will definitely have to pick up new runts. I was kind of bummed when I didn't see lime in the last box I picked up.

Still no lime, but grape *almost* makes up for it.

Does anyone have any sweets from Australia? And how do we find out about the corn starch, what is meant by a "totally different product" is it still derived from corn and does it have the ingredients which give HFI's problems? Thanks

Crap. Bought some gobstoppers this past weekend to fill my gobstopper jar at work. They changed ingredients. Purple is DEFINITELY not safe. I couldn't even bring myself to try any of the other flavors. Seems like Wonka is definitely going down this horrid path of adding fructose to their candies. I won't be surprised if the other candies by them are affected shortly.

Has anyone tried concord confections candy lego blocks? They have the same ingredient list as pixie sticks, but I am not sure about artificial flavoring. The ingredients are listed as follows: Dextrose, citric acid, calcium stearate, artificial flavors, artificial colors (FD&C Red 40 lak, Blue 1 lake, Yellow 5 lake, Yellow 6 lake). Manufactured in a facility that processes peanuts, tree nuts, soy, wheat and dairy products.
I am waiting for a call back from the company who doesn't know anything about their artificial flavoring. They make some other things to with the same ingredients.

Wow, I just discovered this tread for the first time. All those pictures look so jummy! For me too, finally the Smarties-mistery is solved. I could not imagine those being HFI-safe. Just for fun I am going to try to post some pictures of Dutch candy, if technology works with me

I can't seem to make it work. Discovered the 'Insert Image' button, but don't know what to do after the [/img] appears. Does anyone know how this works?

Hi buddhasbelly, between the two [ img ] tags, you'll insert a url for where the image is stored. For example: Will post: So, if you're taking the images yourself, you'll need to host them online somewhere. I like imgur www.imgur.com but there are other places, too: flickr, deviantart, etc.

Colormist, thank you for the explanation. Lets see if I can make this work now. In the Netherlands there are a few dextrose-based candies, on of them are these watches, that you can put on your wrist because the beads are on an elastic string.
