I find it interesting that I can *know* how yummy a particular dessert will taste merely by looking at it or knowing what's in it. I have a slightly more difficult time trying to analyze fruit-ish desserts (fruit salad completely escapes me). I'm not quite sure why a food that repulses me can "sound good." I say that a lot, too. I look at dessert pictures and say, "OH, Chocolate walnut fudge Cheesecake--that sounds good. Doesn't that look good? You should get it."
Like, for instance. I love the concept of walnut chocolate chip cookies. I'm sure I loved eating them in a past life. Also, bananas with chocolate sauce, chocolate ice cream, and nuts. That sounds fantastic.
It's ridiculous.

I thought I was the only weirdo that way. I detest seafood. No allergies or anythig, I feel perfectly fine on them. I just find them disgusting. But when we're in a restaurant, I'll tell others, "oh that sounds good, you should get that. I wont because I abhor it, but you shoud get it."

Nate routinely gets things out of the cupboard or refrigerator for someone else and then gets upset if they don't want to eat it. He also likes to go to the store and pick out things he can't eat for other people. Think he is living vicariously through them???

But Fred, I actually WANT to eat cookies, ice cream, donuts, and muffins. I definitely live vicariously through my husband, Lisa. I know my brother does the same thing. The one think I'm not interested in eating is birthday cake. I get sick if I'm too close to it just from the smell alone. But ice cream cake or other types of cakes are fine. I think it's just the heavy frosting. Tammy, it's good to hear other (non-HFI) people have food appreciation without consumption.

But Fred, I actually WANT to eat cookies, ice cream, donuts, and muffins. Really??? The only thing lately that I have actually WANTED to eat was some bites of cheesecake. But in general, all those things kind of gross me out. Especially donuts, chocolaty things, and cookies. I guess I'm different than most here - I tend to be somewhat grossed out by things I'm not supposed to eat. My husband really laughs at me, cause some beautiful (sweet) dish will appear at his place and I'll just wrinkle my nose.
