2 c. sifted flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2/3 - 3/4 c. milk, 3 Tblsp baking powder, 3-4 Tblsp shortening.
Mix all together and cut into biscuits. Bake at 450 for 12 min.
I usually just use Bisquick and milk. But this works well if I find I am out of Bisquick.

Fred, I'm glad you double checked yours. I just looked at the new box I just bought, and the only sugar is dextrose. So I wonder if it's made differently in Canada, or if they just don't specify which kind of sugar it is. Interesting. Maybe if you sent an e-mail to the bisquick people, they could answer that.
We can also use "Jiffy" mix here, which is about the same thing. Maybe you can look at that.
Thanks for bringing it to my attention anyway. Things change so often it always good to keep checking.

Tammy
I sent an email to General Mills asking whether there was acually a difference in the sugar between the Bisquick made in the US (Dextrose listed) and the Bisquick made in Canada (Sugar listed). They told me that sucrose was in the Canadian version. Therefore, people need to be careful as ingredients can vary from country to country for the same product.

Fred That's a good thing to know. I'm sure glad you checked it out. I wonder if it's made in the same plant, or if they have a US plant and a Canadian plant?
I work where we make Chef-Boy-Ar-Dee products. We make for both here and for Canada. And a lot of the recipes are different for the things we send to Canada. I guess I should have therefore thought about the possibility of other things being different, too.
I saw in your last post that you check all 5 of the message boards for HFI. I have to admit that you are way ahead of me. I know the swiss one, and one on MSN, and Boston University has one that doesn't work (I have a password for it from Dr Tulon, but it still doesn't work) Where did you find 5? Just curious.
