Since we have had many troubles with acidosis we have found an electrolyte replacement I can make at home. I used the second recipe because I didn't have kool aid on hand and also because she was vomiting so I really didn't want the clean-up.
2 cups water 1/4 teaspoon Mortons Light Salt 1/4 teaspoon baking soda 3 tablespoons dextrose 1 package unsweetened Kool-Aid (My Dr asked me to also add 1/4 tsp of salt for the sodium, the light salt is the potassium)
or
2 cups water 1/2 teaspoon Mortons Light Salt 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 4 tablespoons dextrose 2 cups diet Sprite (Using this recipe she wanted me to use 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp light salt)

I can't see why sea salt wouldn't work, you could just use it for the full amount since the difference is it contains all the minerals. I will ask nephrology this question when IF I ever get an appointment with them. But briefly review my acid base balance I don't think adding the other minerals in (calcium, phosphorus) would be any problem.
I hope he feels better real quick and this turns out to be an easy illness/recovery. I do think the sooner you start this the better off you will be. My ped and I discussed doing a glass daily as preventative medicine.
