Baked Macaroni & Cheese
This is my favorite food.
Preheat oven to 350 Degrees. F.
2 Cups Uncooked Elbow Macaroni (4 cups cooked) 3 Tablespoons All Purpose Flour 3 Tablespoons Butter ½ Teaspoon Salt ¼ Teaspoon Pepper 2 Cups Milk 16-24 Ounces Sharp (Old) Cheddar Cheese (Shredded)
Cook the macaroni per the instructions on the package. When the macaroni has finished cooking, place it in a colander and rinse it all through with cold running water and then drain. The rinsing will remove the starchiness. Put the drained macaroni into a 1½ quart greased Casserole Dish.
Heat the butter in a 3-quart saucepan over medium heat until melted. Stir in flour, salt and pepper. Cook stirring constantly until mixture is bubbly. Add milk stirring constantly. When mixture thickens and just begins to bubble, stir in the cheese until melted. Pour mixture over the macaroni and stir in. Bake about 45-60 minutes or until bubbling in the centre and browned around the outside. Remove from oven and let stand until bubbling stops.
Makes 4-6 servings.
