Hi Andrea I tried to find a little info on this site. You can't actually see what the documents say unless you join the site. It seems a little steep to me. I downloaded the trial but it didn't tell me anything. So all I can base my impression on is the fact that it says it has many reciepes, including "the Best Blueberry Muffins". This tells me that I, personally, would not pay the money and trust the site. Blueberries are not allowed. So either their info is just for malabsortion, or they are making the best ever muffins without the main ingrediant. (Then it would only be muffins, not blueberry muffins).
So I would not be interested in joining. If you have more details on what they allow you can compare it to the BU list and see what the differences are. Tammy

BU is Boston University. That is where Dr Dean Tolan is. He seems to be the top most Dr on HFI. Here is the website www.bu.edu/aldolase/HFI/You can find the basic lists of foods on here. It's what I go by but it's also a little vague. Sometimes you just have to kind of reason it out. My rule has always been, keep with the list, try to use common sense for things not listed, and if still in question, then it's a "NO" for safety sake. If you stick with this, I think you'll be ok. It's probably going to also be a case of this diet will be ok with your child because he will feel better, it's only going to be you who hates to see him eat this way. Just keep remembering that it's what is best, and the stricker you are with the diet, the better Mother you are.

In the link just sent on fructose intolerance under "Diet": it says Many unsuspected sources of these sugars exist. For example, potatoes, when prepared a certain way, may provide a significant amount of fructose. I am wondering which way we shouldn't eat potatoes and what are the safe ways to prepare potatoes. Thank you!

Overcooking(baking) or refrigerated storage of potatoes causes the starch to breakdown into sugar (and they taste "sweet").
