I was surprised to see this article in our local paper today about Fructose Intolerance: www.newsobserver.com/707/story/984741.htmlThis condition seems to be getting much more publicity lately, but I'm very disappointed that she didn't mention HFI.

Mike: nice to see it getting more attention. About 8 years ago I bought some altitude sickness medicine prior to climbing Mt. Whitney-and the medicine had a warning for people with HFI. That's the only warning we've ever seen

I'm also excited that Fructose Intolerance of any type is getting publicity. I can only pray that the use of HF Corn syrup will be shown to be hazardous to (any)ones health. When will "they" wake up and start removing sugars from almost all foods? The e-mail address of the author is in the article. I'm going to send her the link to the Boards.

Julie-did you notice, the woman who wrote the article is at UNC Yes, I did notice that, and I wrote to her after posting the link here. I told her I liked the article but was disappointed that she didn't mention HFI. She was very quick and friendly with her response. She said that she considered discussing HFI but didn't feel she had the space to really get into it. She clearly was aware of the condition. At least I have an ally close by!

Too funny! She's probably thinking "Wow, I didn't realize the Raleigh News & Observer was so widely read!"
