One thing I used to eat when I was a kid was split pea soup. It doesn't taste sweet, but it's made from dried green peas, right? I tried some last night for the first time in ages, and I did okay with it. This makes no sense to me.
Does anyone have an answer? Have you all tried this before?

I've never tried it. My guess would be the dehydration makes the vegetables/fruits lose some sugar. I know I used to LOVE dehydrated bananas (the unsweetened kind). They were less sweet than their fresh alternatives. Kind of goes in the same category as corn. You can eat corn chips and corn meal and corn tortillas, but not canned corn.

They bother me raw as do snaps or snowpeas but cooked is fine. I know I have cross reactions sometimes wwhere the inflammatory response mistakes the protein in the food as pollen or something like it. Cooking breaks the protein down enough so it is'nt mistaken for something else. That is how I first noticed problems with fruits and vegetables. It could break down whatever causes a problem when it is dehydrated and then when it is cooked in soup it breaks it down more.

I love non-ripe apples. I need my own tree so I can eat them again. I also love unripe black raspberries. The tarter, the better. I haven't had either since I discovered my diagnosis, though. I wanted to start a black raspberry farm, just so I could enjoy them again.
