I have not been very active member in a while but, I was wondering if anyone could give me a list of some of the items they get at Trader Joe's. I remember some chat about some stuff and thinking it would be nice to have one in my area (Minnesota). I discovered there is a new one only a few miles away. I plan to make a trip in the next few days and figured I would see what items they have.
My two boys have DFI but, follow an HFI diet for the most part. They seem ok with natural flavorings, some onion, ect... but, we don't add in berries ect.. like some of the DFI people can.
For those of you who remember me chatting in the past my son's 7 and 2 both have fructose issues. The 2 year old has not had any testing other then when he gets something he gets fussy and diareha. My 7 year old was diagnosed with a (very bad experiance) breath test. He was was never failure to thrive but, could not potty train and had diareha all the time. We finaly had him diagnosed at age 5. He has been on an HFI diet since. We have tried some DFI stuff but, always end back on the HFI diet.
We also were having trouble with energy and some school stuff. With several different doc visits this summer we found out that he has some visual problems and core strength issues. The doc thinks it may have been from his body figthing the fructose in his system for the first few years of life. He now goes to Occupational Therapy once a week and does homework daily to work on those issues. They think once they build up his core and visual stuff he will not have the issues he has. We have already noticed a minor difference. They expect it to take about 1-2 years of theropy. He loves the sessions so this should not be a problem.
Would be nice to get a few new foods from trader joes. Bad news for any of you who get Schwans fish sticks. They changed the formula and now include sugar.
Thanks
Nancy
