Hi, I am pretty new to all this I was DX in July/Aug via breath test I have been on a real restricted diet since then to try and heal and have been feeling amazingly well I never thought they would figure it out. They kept saying its IBS and stress. I knew it wasn't I knew it was food related. urgh!! I am now starting to venture out and try some new things I bought dextrose today. What is the conversion if a recipe calls for 1cup sugar how much dextrose? I have been reading so many differnt posts and have been on different boards I think my brain is very confused.

The conversion for Dextrose is pretty much 1 to 1. If you're really sensitive to sweets and your recipe doesn't depend heavily on how much sweetner needs to react with the other ingredients (i.e. bread), then you can put in less dextrose. However, since you're DFI, you probably don't gag at the taste of sweets.

hi sherri If you really want it to taste like other recipes call for, you need closer to 1 cup sugar = 1 1/2 cup dextrose. When I make something for my daughter, I started with this. It's close to the same taste. The only problem is that you end up with a different consistency due to the volume of dextrose. Depending on what you're making, you can add a drop of milk or water to make it the same.
However, even though my daughter likes sweet tastes, she likes the cookies and cakes made with the 1 to 1 ratio. She thinks they are better. And they are easier to make since the texture is closer to the same.
So you'll just have to experiment and see which way you prefer.
