I also get sick on Quinoa. I know a lot of sensitive Celiacs who do fine with it, so I wonder if it does have fructose in it. I just looked on a website and it had 3 grams of fiber, 1 gram of sugar per serving, but it doesn't break it down by type of sugar. A good website is: www.quinoa.net/index.html

That makes sense. It bothers me a little when I use some quinoa in something. I am not thrilled with the taste, but it so good for you. Ok that is if you are not DFI or HFI!! I hate crossing one more thing off. I wonder if red is any different. I am going to chekc out the website. Thanks.

Ok, so Kristen you are so helpful with this stuff. What does "It’s a DIABETIC solution, a very low-glycemic-index cereal type food." mean in terms of us? -Thanks, Suzi

Oh well, thank you for all of the info, and support!! Yes, label reading - it's true. I am lucky that I always was a whole foods eater, it helps. However, I am mired in confusion over the grains piece of it. I think that it's just one more thing I can not give up. Well, of course I can, but you know what I mean. Happy Thanksgiving, Suzi

To Zweban suzi-Low Glycemic index is good for diabetic but may be bad for DFI/HFI because it can mean high fructose sugar that doesn't spike the glycemic index no matter how much it is but low in glucose.
I just ate red quinoa by the way and am feeling ok. I read something that all alternative grains were OK, the idea being their fructose is minimal and their fructans none?

I tried quinoa yesterday and did suprisingly fine. The one I ate has less than 1g of sugar. The brown rice (gluten free) spaghetti I had been eating ha 1g of sugar. It's nice to have options! I also switched from eating gluten free oats which has 1g of sugar to one that is also gluten free but has 0g of sugar. I felt a lot better on the one that has 0g! I've had to eliminate all fruits and veggies, even potatoes, so it's good that I can have carbs! (very limited though)
