Gum?

Have any of you found a safe gum? I used to love chewing gum (the Trident cinnamon specifically), but I would always go hypoglycemic about 30 minutes after popping it in my mouth. Of course, I didn't make the connection at the time. After all, what could possibly be in sugar-free GUM that would make me ill?
It seems like every single piece of gum has sorbitol in it. Have you found anything that works? Do you just not bother with it? It was one thing that used to help keep me from snacking at work.

Carefree Sugarfree gum is the only kind I've heard of that doesn't have sorbitol. I have yet to find it on store shelves and I look at nearly every store.

Some of the IceBreakers gum is ok. Not all flavors, and I can't remember which ones without looking again. Also I stay away from the fruit flavors since they all say natural flavor. But there is at least one or 2 of the mint &/or bubblegum flavor that is ok. I'll try to remember to check them again. Instead of sorbitol, they have Xylitol.
ok, the flavor I currently have at home is Bubble Breeze. It contains: Xylitol; gum base; hydrogenated starch hydrolysate; mannitol; contains 2% or less of: natural and artificial flavors; aspartame; soy lecithin; artificial color; acesulfame potassium; gelatin and bht.

I've been looking for Xylitol gum. Apparently, if you chew xylitol for two years, you get rid of all plaque-causing bacteria in the mouth. I know it's a long time to be chewing gum, but if you're going to chew it anyway, why not get rid of the bacteria in your mouth. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XylitolMy work (I work in the health industry) has been all a-buzz about xylitol this week. Apparently there's some xylitol gum at whole foods. It might be worth checking out the ingredients if you have a Whole Foods near your home. (I think it's just called Xylitol--there might be a couple different types).

I think I found another safe gum:
Trident Splash Strawberry with Lime
Here are the ingredients: Maltitol, gum base, natural and artificial flavoring (whatever that means), hydrogenated glucose syrup, less than 2% acesulfame potassium, aspartame, blue 1, candelilla wax, gelatin, glycerine, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, soy lecithin, titanium dioxide (color), xanthan gum, yellow 5
Anything in there look bad for HFI?
Note that this was the only Trident Splash flavor that didn't have sorbitol.
It tastes a bit too sweet for me, I'm sure from the aspartame, but I didn't go hypoglycemic after eating it.

I never quite know what the natural flavor is when it's a fruit flavor. Is it natural strawberry? I doubt it, but I just never take the chance. It's probably also such a small amount that it wouldn't give some a problem, but again, I always try to err on the side of caution. Other than that, I'd give it a green light.
