I am planning to supplement our 8-year-old son's diet with krill oil or fish oil. However, the shell of the soft capsules used by almost all brands contain glycerol. I could not find any conclusive information here on the Board as to whether glycerol is safe. I would be glad to learn your opinion on this matter. With my thanks in advance for your replies...

It will not cause a HFI reaction, or does not require Adolase B to process it. It will be sweet, though, as it is a sugar alcohol. All sugar alcohols can have a laxative affect, as well, or cause some GI upset when eaten in large enough quantities. Hopefully not the case if just in the outer capsule.

I bought the krill oil I had been eyeing for a long time, and I am very happy.

I get it. It’s hard to get in those omegas given the mercury content of large fish.
