I am trying to make corndogs for my son. He loves them but, I have not found any approved. I tried bisquick batter but, he was not impressed. It also did not stick that great. I could experiment with it more but I also coudl use a standard recipe.
The recipes I have found all use corn meal (go figure the corn dog name). I tried looking back at some posts but, could not find the ones that discussed corn meal. Is it ok? It comes in yellow and white and both say it is enriched and degerminated.

The germ of the corn is definately the problem. This is one of the first things I learned with this diet. I allow cornmeal. And if it states "degermed", that is even better.
If I see cornmeal as an ingredient, I still allow it. Regina eats a lot of Puffed corn balls, "cheesies", etc. They are all made with corn meal and I have never had a problem.
ALL corn by-products are ok. Corn meal, corn starch, corn oil, corn sugar, and corn meal. You shouldn't have any trouble with it.

The one I found came in yellow and white (I picked yellow) and is made by Quaker. It was at our local market in the baking section. I will give it a try but, my son is not as sensitive as others. We did see some issues with pop corn but, he was eating it every night before bed. I then read some posts on it and we eliminated it. The issues went away. His minor issues are more sleep and crabby stuff (minor compaired to some).
