I found these Grain Sweetened Chocolate Chips. Any of you seen then before? They are made by Sunspire (www.sunspire.com) Ingredients are whole grain malted barley and corn, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, and pure vanilla.
I question the corn as a sweetner but, malted barley is ok, I think. Any other issues you see? We may give them a try. They taste good.

I put in a call to the company to see if they could better tell me how the corn is processed into sugar. I have used malted barley syrup before with out issue but, I just used it in baking never gave it to him to dunk things in. I may do that in the future when he wishes he had honey.

Gillianne eats 5 of them everytime she pees in the potty, lol. Seriosuly, this is her choclate and she loves them. I carry a bowl in our diaper bag.
Personally I cannot stand them but that doesn't matter, they are all for her.

I checked with the company and they do use the whole kernal of corn in the sugar making process. They turn it into a malt along with the barley. I would guess that if you can tolerate some corn (popcorn) you could eat some chips in cookies. But, for some this is a no no.
We plan to keep it on the shelf but, with school starting in a few days we don't plan to test anyting. My guess is he could tolerate it in a cookie but, not lots. He was eating popcorn without issue tell there were some posts about it so, I let him eat it everyday for a week and we started to see issues. We now have it as a limited item for a special event.

They use the whole grain barley and corn. They then boil and dry it to make the sugar. So, yes both could then cause an issue.
