Ho everyone I am so glad to Find this amazing forum My baby is 5 month old . We found out about his HFI diagnosis when he was 2.5 month old . We just Did DNA test without any reason . I jjust did it out of curiosity. Didn’t expected any of this . He is breastfeeding now, but in couple weeks I need to introduce solid food. Any recommendations what’s the best start ? And what brand you guys recommend. We are in New Jersey

Just to be clear, I was not diagnosed with HFI as an Infant... Misdiagnosed (hepatitis) after a babysitter took care of me and my brother for an evening.
Other than that particular night we were raised on a base of milk and rice cereal with a small amounts from various jars of baby food (Including fruits.)
A little more than 50 years ago, Gerber was about the only brand available especially on Air Force Bases.

I cannot stress highly enough how very important it is to not feed your child any thing that contains any form of Sucrose, Fructose or Sorbitol. It is all poisonous to us. The maximum daily amount of Fructose that is safe for us to consume in one day is 4g a day for an adult of around 80kg. To keep your beautiful child safe you need to divide 4g by 80Kg this equals around 0.05g a day per Kilo bodyweight. 4g is about 4/5ths of a teaspoon a day for an adult so you will understand that 0.05g per kilo (1 kilo = 2.2Lbs). This is the best safest advice we have had from any medical professional and has helped keep many of us safe and children growing really healthy and growing well. Certainly far better health than before. Keep smiling all will work out. Going back to your 1st question, milk (cows, goat, sheep or horse milk) is good as are cream and cheese. As first solids I would suggest some baby rice powder (check all foods for ingredients) mixed into milk. A little safe cream cheese on some soft white bread and butter when the baby rice is not sufficient for him. Keep smiling, the HFI diet is an extremely good diet when all is considered.

Actually it's 1:15000 in the UK but few of us survive weaning. Particularly if exposed to Fructose in any volume. many formula milks are essentially lethal to us.

Hi and welcome 😊 My daughter is 11, so I’m a bit rusty on the baby front, but I wanted you to know there are Facebook groups with members who have infants and little ones. I’m sure you could find some helpful advice there, or read through the archived posts, because it’s been discussed many times. This one is very active: www.facebook.com/groups/1787259404931697/?ref=shareOff the top of my head: rice cereal, oatmeal, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, plain fish/poultry/meat - all of these can be puréed to your desired consistency if you get yourself a little, baby food processor. There are a lot more options when you get to finger foods. Be careful with vegetables, because many contain naturally occurring sorbitol that you will not see on nutrition labels or in food composition databases. Don’t feel pressured to introduce them. Your child is getting all necessary nutrients from breast milk. Once your child is eating larger quantities of solids, you’ll want to make sure you find a supplement for vitamin C, at minimum, or a safe multivitamin. This has also been discussed many times on the Facebook group. Good luck with the introduction. It’s very fortunate that you found HFI before starting solids! Most are not that lucky. Great to hear it’s being tested for.
