I hate sweets, sugary drinks, fruit, most processed meats, snacks, chips, and most bread. My dad was the same way. I developed this aversion over time as a young child. I've been known to be just a crazy picky eater. I just have an instinctual rejection of certain foods. I have chronic constipation (everyday for my entire childhood and adolescence) and am afraid I will die of colon cancer. I'm 21. Frequent stomach pain, nausea, fatigue, no cavities. I recently had multiple vitamin deficiencies including a severe vitamin D deficiency and b12. Doctor said I should assume I have HFI. How can I get tested for a condition like HFI or CSID and how do I know I would have this?

For example, I had four or five raspberries this morning. My stomach hurts and I'm so dizzy and lightheaded. I would never eat this normally but my boyfriend thinks it's ridiculous that I don't eat fruit.

You can ask your doctor for a referral to a geneticist or ask them to do the HFI screening to see if you have the disease. It sounds like you might have HFI or a similar metabolic disease. Take a multivitamin (I prefer the Nature Made Gel Capsules--unflavored) every day and listen to what your body is telling you. Try adding some plain oatmeal or plain (big-biscuit) shredded wheat into your diet. Coffee is also pretty good for constipation. Drink lots of water. Try the fructose-free diet and see how you feel on it. You should feel better within a week if you stick to it (an have HFI).
Good luck!

Sounds like your dealing with an issue that is more extreme then HFI. It would be a good idea to get a genetic test for metobolic disorders.

OK to sort out your chronic constipation 1st. Psyllium husks ( a form of none digestible plant fiber. They are sold in Health food shops. A teaspoon full morning and night in a lot of water, in a few min it forms a tasteless jell.. but is not that pleasant to drink. I sprinkle a teaspoon full on HFI safe breakfast cereal (the only other form of fiber I get each day) The 2nd spoonful I have before bead in water. but it can be mixed into milk and plain unflavoured yogurt to make a thick milkshake (if unflavoured).
As for the rest, an urgent referral to a metabolic clinic is required.
What country do you live in?
