I apologize if I missed it but I am looking for direction for IV fluids for an elective surgery next week. My daughter was diagnosed with HFI by DNA test. She has tolerated IV fluids with previous surgeries but this one uses lactated ringers and I thought there was information this was not good for HFI. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

My son's doctor has the lactated ringers listed as an allergy so we avoid it. I cant remember the whole official reason, but it has to do with the normal build up of lactate acid in the blood not being able to be metabolized as quick because of HFI, so the thinking was to avoid additional.
I wish I could be more specific.

Thank you Rysmom14! That is what I was thinking too but couldn’t remember enough to explain myself to the surgeon. They will be using normal saline to be safe.
