The only safe diagnosis is Genetic. Frequently doctors confuse HFI with FM and give a glass full of Fructose 1st! Not good! The other old school method (which I had done on me) was the "challenge test" which dose what it says.. particularly if the Doctors get the decimal place wrong and give you 10x the amount of Fructose they should do! A 3rd method is liver biopsy.. which should be done only if the Genetic test comes out unknown. This has significant risks! The more damage present in the liver the higher the risk! With liver biopsy if the sample needle nicks a blood vessel then a slow bleed to death is the result! In damaged livers the blood vessels will not necessarily be in the normal places.. IF HFI is suspected the ONLY test should be Genetic 1st Sorry a lot of !!! but this is important!!!
