My sugar problems are worsening - no hypoglycaemia crashes lately - but can no longer eat mushrooms. Not only does mushrooms have fructose, sucrose in them - they also have mannitol (another sugar) in them. My poor back had a rash so bad on it - I barely was able to lie down on it. Five days and the rash is slowly going away. I have known about mannitol being a problem - I just didn’t know it was in mushrooms.
I will continue on the HFI, celiac, egg, corn, lactose, sugar (natural or/and man made sugars), sulfite free diets. I will just have to be more careful.
Thanks everyone for their suggestions -as how to get help - definitely will not be leaving the group - this group has helped keep me alive.
Have a great day - hugs everyone Gerri

Oh yeah, mannitol is really high in a few types of mushrooms. Mushrooms, like green beans, always tasted better for me when tinned. I wonder if the boiling removes most of the sugars. I'm sorry to hear about your issues, Gerri. Do antihistamines help with the rash? I used to take benedryl for poison ivy rashes--it was the only way I could sleep and not wake up itching my skin off. Have you been to a dermatologist to see if you have allergies to certain known allergens? My friend went and discovered she was having hives from an ingredient in certain foods and hygiene products. I'm sorry if you've tried all these things. I just hate to see someone going through a struggle and not being able to help at all.
