Immunizations

Hi there

I’m just checking in with anyone to see if they have given their kids inoculations. My son cooper is behind on is obviously since most vaccines have some type of sugar in them. I have been working with our team at BC children’s hospital and I know every child is different and reacted differently so it’s hard to know if the tiny amount will hurt him.

Hi Kcchater,

You are right that everyone is different and different levels of sugar can affect people differently. My son had all fo his 1st rounds of shots before being diagnosed. After he was diagnosed he has had all of the vaccines. The only one we had delayed was the MMR because it had a decent amount of sugar. We weighed the options and chose to make sure his liver numbers were really low to start with and then vaccinate. After the vaccine, we watched him and check his blood sugars to make sure he was ok. we didn't see any reactions. That's not to say that there are not internal things happening, but after we considered everything, we felt that the vaccine was more importance then the risk of not having it.
