Hi All, I've been on a journey to discover what was causing my terrible digestive issues. Before giving up fructose and other fodmaps, I was on many exclusion diets. Giving up fructose etc. helped some of my digestive issues (gas, bloating), but not others (constipation). I have finally found a solution that is so simple I am embarrassed! I've started chewing my food VERY thoroughly. That is, I chew it no less than 30 times and make sure it is very moist with saliva. Some meats I chew more than 30 times, until it is a paste. This has helped my digestion immensely. I guess I had a lifelong habit of not chewing well, rushing, waiting until I was too hungry to take my time. Other people must do the same thing as there are thousands of choking deaths in the U.S. each year.
Perhaps I have an extra-sensitive gut and that is why I experienced such bad IBS. Thank you so much for not kicking me off the board!

I never thought that hypoglycemia might cause digestive issues. Sometimes I'm so hungry that I choke while eating. I seriously doubt if I manage to chew 10 times when I'm really hungry.

Yes!! Thank you for the reminder. My son hardly chews and that causes gas/vomiting sometimes. Chewing is so important and most of us rush through our meals in the US.
