Awesome! This is my first time hearing about the patent! I have heard from the doctors working on a trial for humans (which hasn't started yet as far as I know). They called it a nutraceutical. The development was initially intended for people with diabetes.
I've been wondering if you eat it before every meal or if you eat it once a day. From the description it sounds like you take it before a potentially unsafe meal.
From this article, it sounds like they're also suggesting adding it to manufactured foods and labeling the foods as safe for our condition. This is a less optimal result for those of us with HFI. I would much rather have something I can take with me and eat before a meal. Having it pre-added to foods would just dump me in the same situation I am in right now where I have to bring all my food with me when I go anywhere.
At the very least, they now have a confirmed patent.

I'm with you on that one.. too many nasty additives in our food already. adding a good one will not change the fact most "foods" manufactured have way too many chemicals and additives that have never been tested together to see if they are in any way safe.

I have heard a rumour of a trial of a product that may help HFI people. However I have not posted anything about it until I know more about it and if it is likely to be a success or not. I would not want to get peoples hopes up. Being reliant on vitamin C is bad enough, having to pay for a pharmaceutical that is not really required if a good healthy diet is followed seems to me to be a bit of a backward step. However we will see what happens.
