01/07/2018 OK folks had a call out from Metabolic Support UK. A lady in Spain who runs a support group over there has sent the following message to Metabolic Support. The lovely Rachael from Metabolic Support UK has passed this onto me.
What are your thoughts folks? Anyone interested? I do not have a problem but need to discuss this with my partner 1st before I say yes. I am sure offers from the USA and Australia would be interesting to them if a lot more expensive than coming to the UK for a week or two.
It might suit families with Fructosemic / HFI children best however? Not sure a teanager would really enjoy the company of a 50 / 60 year old couple as much as mixing with children of their own age.. ("OLD" people are so uncool!)
"I have received a communication from a Spanish mother who has two daughters both with HFI of 13 and 15 years old, she belongs to a Spanish organisation www.aaihf.com/ who is looking for the same English association or foundation. In their association there are many children between 12 and 17 years old that would like to travel to a foreign country to learn English during the summer although the families are afraid about their diets. She is wanting to find families with children in UK with the same problem, so that they could make exchanges that would be easy for both families. Her daughters are very healthful and they have a normal life but the problems come when they want to travel alone to a foreign country. This year her youngest daughter went to Ireland with an organised trip and stayed with a woman very involved with her problem and she didn’t have any problem.
I have explained to her that the family contact that I offer does not involve exchanges, and that the families that I speak with would probably not feel comfortable with sending their children alone to another strange country to stay with people that they didn’t know. Do you have any thoughts on this, I would welcome them if you did…."
Kind regards,
Family Support Officer
