To give your flour vanilla flavor place a vanilla bean in a plastic bag, nestle the bag in with the flour keeping the bag open. Close your flour container (an air tight container works best) and allow the vanilla to infuse your flour without it ever touching it. The fresher your vanilla bean and the longer you let it sit the stronger the vanilla flavor will be. Try this with other starches or grains such as oats. Try other aromatics such as cinnamon sticks, cardamom pods, etc. Most people don’t realize flavor perception occurs in the nasal canal (via flavor volatiles/gases that are released as you chew your food), not on the tongue. This is why food has no flavor when you have cold.
