Does anyone else eat the Private Selection Golden Roasted Chicken Breast from King Soopers, in the plastic containers by the deli? It's a little less expensive than the Applegate one and I think it tastes better (but my son is the one with HFI). I've been feeding this to him and he doesn't seem to be having a reaction, but we are cutting back to his diet due to high labs and I'm trying to figure out if we should cut this out.
Ingredients are chicken breast, water, dextrose, potassium lactate, salt, sodium phosphate, and sodium diacetate. I just noticed that it says "caramel color added" but none of those ingredients seem like they would be the color so I may have to call and ask.
Thanks for any thoughts!

When Ryans's lab were getting out of normal range, we cut out all dextrose too. It is supposed to be glucose, but we cut out all iffy ingredients. The caramel coloring is something you would want to avoid. I think Colormist found a safe turkey in Wal-Mart, but I cant remember the name, but it was in a clear container with black writing on it, I think.

Dextrose can sometimes not be pure as I understand. The cold cuts with dextrose are now too sweet for my child and she began to have reactions as her diet got cleaner. It takes some juggling, but we now make pretty much everything at home. When it is holiday time, I stock up on natural turkeys in the freezer and pull one out every couple months to break up the consistent chicken. I ususally slice to put in grilled cheese sandwiches, which she likes as her lunch.

It's Sam's Choice at Walmart, in the pre-packaged lunchmeat section. I'm not sure of the ingredients, but there weren't many.

Too frequently I have been caught out by products supposedly containing Dextrose.. also caramel is usually made form Fructose because it caramelizes at a lower temperature and quicker than Glucose or Sucrose.

The only deli meat my daughter will eat is by Diestel. All other brands she eventually rejects, even Applegate. Only found at our local natural foods store, I’m guessing you could also find it at Whole Foods. One of their sliced turkey meats has nothing added, not even salt. It’s not processed at all so can be crumbly and difficult to separate the slices. And, of course, like anything without additives or preservatives, it is expensive. But I like to keep a package in the refrigerator for those times when we run out of homemade food. Because it just happens! I sprinkle a touch of sea salt on it to boost its flavor.
