I accidentlly got a hold of something with Stevia in it the other day and got sicker than a dog. Oh yuck! That stuff is poison. Anyone else have problems with it? I already knew agave doesn’t like me very much, but I think Stevia is worse!

We were just talking about Stevia in another thread! I have heard that it's considerably sweeter than fructose, but might be safe for HFI. However, I could not bring myself to try something that I imagine might taste anything like honey (which is what I imagine it might taste like).
Thank you for being a guinea pig and letting us know your results! I am so sorry you had to go through that, though.

Stevia is a "not tolerated" sweetener on the BU HFI sugar list. Must be similar to sorbitol in that it is broken down into fructose at some point in the body. It's all the rage in the natural foods stores. Like sorbitol it is found naturally in plants; It is extracted from the stevia plant. From a HFI standpoint though, I would say the more "natural" it is the more cautious I would be with it.

Just threw a box of stevia out - last night had such chest pains - caused severe GERDS - pain left shoulder was trying to make my own - potatoe salad dressing. Allergic to eggs/corn so much more. Not worth the scary pain more.
