I thought I would share this with you to see if any other women who have given birth to HFI children had a similar experience to that of my mother. My mother had 3 pregnancies. Her first pregnancy with my older brother was by all accounts ‘normal’. When she was pregnant with me, my mother found she could not eat sugar/sweet foods as they made her feel nauseated. She initially thought this was just one of the many food oddities that woman have when pregnant. After my birth, she resumed her normal diet. Eight years later, she became pregnant with my younger brother and the same thing happened in that she was unable to consume sugar/sweet foods. Both my younger brother and I have HFI. So, it makes me wonder during our gestation period, if that was our bodies trying to keep us safe by impacting our mother’s system in such a way to keep her from consuming fructose/sucrose.
Has anyone else come across this through their experience?

my son who has HFI, was carried with his fraternal twin sister who dosent have HFI, and I thought the pregnancy was pretty normal. just recently I had another child, no HFI, and the pregnancy was the same. I didnt have a ton of cravings or aversions to anything with either pregnancy. From what i understand though, the sugar would not pass to the baby while in utero and it also does not pass though breast milk.
